What we don't review are duds. You don't have time to read about duds and we don't have time to write about them.
For every review you read here, there are a few dozen duds you won't read here. Sure, sometimes you might not agree with us. Reviews are subjective and we have an eclectic range. But we do hope to help you discover or rediscover something new, cool, or otherwise on the fringe every now and again.
So, as a discriminating review site, we have to develop an alternative scale that sometimes throws people off. This graph will help you get grounded.
We measure encounters much like the Richter Scale measures ground movement or the Torino Scale measures asteroid impacts.
As an additional point of reference, our scale begins at what other scales might call average: 3.5 on a 5-point scale or 6 on a 10-point scale. That's about all there is to it.
